Idiazabal Cheese and Txakoli Sparkling White Wine
FeelFree proposes you to take you on a private gastronomic tour, which includes a visit to the village of Urnieta, where they produce the traditional Basque cheese "Idiazabal". Also, a visit to the village of Getaria, where we will head to a cave where the renown local white wine,"Txakoli", is produced.
We will start from Donostia / San Sebastian and then go to the village of Urnieta, where we will visit an original farmhouse, where they will teach us the process of making this cheese.
After a varied cheese tasting, we will head to the fishermen's village of Getaria.
This charming fisherman's village is also the birthplace of Juan Sebastián Elcano (Getaria, 1487-1526) the first man to sail around the world. It is probably one of the medieval historical centers that best reflects the passing of the times. We are definitely at a privileged place in the province of Gipuzkoa. Let’s enter the old quarter and have the possibility to eat grilled fish at one of its famous restaurants by the fishing port.
After a nice walk around the village, we will visit a txakoli winery, in order to understand the local process of making this particular sparkling wine, produced from a unique vine. These grapes, Hondarrabi-Zuri and Hondarrabi-Beltza, receive the gentle caress of the breeze from the Cantabrian Sea, which makes this wine so unique and special
After a wine tasting and a tour around the winery, we start our way back to Donostia / San Sebastian, where we can either relax or choose between a "pintxos" route or a dinner in a gastronomic club in town.
